Programs

AIPP has played an important role in drafting and tabling of the 73" Constitutional Amendment Act which Panchayati Raj Institutions the constitutional rights and powers to operate at the grass roots level. In addition, AIPP has been involved in research, imparting training and production of literature including a monthly journal. In recognition of its role in promoting the Panchayati Raj system, AIPP receives grant-in-aid from several State Governments and the Central Government.
AIPP maintains its role of assisting the Panchayati Raj Institutions in solving their problems by approaching the concerned authorities in the Central and the State Governments. It holds National, Regional and State level conferences etc. AIPP has evolved many independent programmes to assist in meeting its objectives. Some of these are :

  1. Conferences at National level to highlight and develop solutions to problems faced by Panchayati Raj Institutions and strengthen these organizations.
  2. Conferences and workshops at the State level and District level to strengthen the organizations and provide orientation.
  3. Training programmes at different levels to assist office bearers and officials involved in the Panchayati Raj system.
  4. Publication of books to assist and train persons in the operation the Panchayati Raj Institutions.
  5. National Seminars on socially relevant topics e.g. Family Planning and Welfare, Agriculture, Environment Water conservation and harvesting, non-conventional energy sources etc.
  6. Promotion of numerous schemes relating to agriculture andrural development and other relevant schemes at the Regional, State and Zilla Parishad levels.
  7. Youth Conferences at State level, focused on every state.
  8. Recognition and award of prizes for performance of Zilla Parishads as well as block panchayats and gram panchayats.
  9. Publication of Panchayat Sandesh to extend and educate the people about the rural development programmes and the successful stories.
  10. To hold meetings and seminars on 21° January (the birthday of late Shri Lal Singh Tyagi, the founder General Secretary AIPP) 19” February (Birthday of Shri Balwant Rai Mehta, the first president of AIPP), 20" August (Birthday of Shri Rajiv Gandhi, known for being initiator of the 73" Amendment), 2" October (Birthday of Gandhi ji) and 11" October (Birthday of Lok Nayak Shri Jai Prakash Narayan) each year.
  11. To give awards to the best Zilla Panchayat Parishads, Block Samitis and Village Panchayat for their unique contributions to the success of PRIs.
